Erna West passed away peacefully at age 87 in her daughter's home in White Salmon, Wash., on Nov. 13, 2023. She was born in The Dalles, Ore., to Paul and Geraldine Richau on Feb.16, 1936.
She graduated from The Dalles High School. She worked as a waitress at the family restaurant in The Dalles during her high school days. She married Richard Smith and started her family as a homemaker. She had three children, Tracy Smith of Enumclaw, Toni Stencil of White Salmon, and Tina Landel of Vancouver.
Later she divorced and remarried, which ended in another divorce. She later married Wayman West in Boise, Idaho, and they moved to Sequim, Wash. When Wayman passed, she moved to Vancouver, Wash., and later to White Salmon. She lived with her daughter Toni the last three years of her life.
Her granddaughter Jessica, great-granddaughters Brittany, Emily and Caitlyn, and great-great-grandson Benjamin helped care for her. She was very happy and enjoyed being surrounded by her family. She was a big part of our lives and will be missed.
She has five grandchildren, Jessica, Jacqueline, Ove, Jack and Richard; great-grandchildren Amanda, Tiffany, Brittany, Lilly, Emily, Caitlyn, Noah, Abraham and Ezra, and great-great grandchildren Benjamin and Bodhi.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard and husband Wayman, daughter Tina and granddaughter Jacqueline.
We already miss you, Mother, but will one day join you in heaven.
