THE DALLES — Northern Wasco County PUD is offering a new scholarship program that will award three $10,000 scholarships this year. The awards will be paid directly to the educational institution in two annual $5,000 payments, upon confirmation of registration.
Applicants must live within the service territory of the PUD and graduate this year with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher or complete their GED this year.
Applications have been delivered to the three high schools in the PUD’s service area: South Wasco, Dufur, and The Dalles. GED students can request an application by emailing Public-Relations@nwascopud.org.
The purpose of the scholarship is to promote interest and support education in the utility industry. The utility industry is vast and diverse with a broad range of potential jobs including line work, tree trimming, engineering, energy efficiency, accounting and finance, communications, customer service, human resources and many others.
“The Northern Wasco County PUD is pleased to be able to offer generous scholarships to high school seniors in our service area who are interested in furthering their education in a field related to the power industry,” said Board President Greg Johnson. The full scholarship program policy can be requested by emailing Public-Relations@nwascopud.org.
