Here is the final report for the 2024-25 league bowling season at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes.
Monday night Industrial league:
On April 14, Clear Cutters won the Industrial league! Congratulations to the champions, state no-tap champ George (the buck stops here) Buck, Court Barker, and Rod Pratt. Clear Cutters beat OL’7-10 in the final match of the season, 18-7. As usual Clear Cutters was led by the dynamic duo of Court Barker and Rod Pratt. Court tossed a big 267 game and 631 series while steady anchorman Rod Pratt fashioned three 200 games for a cool 657 set. Those big numbers were simply too much for OL’7-10 who gave it the old college try even though they were short-handed by the absence of their inimitable anchorman, Lynn Spellman who was out of action due to surgery.
Without a doubt, young Court Barker keyed Clear Cutters surge to the Industrial title. Court bowled juniors at Orchard Lanes a few years ago but he was out of ten-pin action for some time. He joined Clear Cutters at the end of last September and started out slowly, searching for that old magic. He was averaging in the 170s after about a month of league action. Since then, the enthusiastic right hander has been crushing the sticks. He finished up with a 200 average!
More high Scores on April 14: Patrick Olson for Pat’s Pro Shop, 268,251 games & 723 series; Mike Bosse for Mt. Hood BBQ, 243 game; and NancyAsai for Orchard Lanes, 205 game.
Wednesday night Fraternal league:
On April 23, Hood River Athletic Club won the Fraternal league! Congratulations to the champions Jesse Orr, Ken Kramer, and Josh Worth. HR Athletic Club beat Mt. Hood BBQ in the final match 16-9. The Clubbers were led by Jesse Orr who put the Barbequers in dire straights right out of the gate, by blasting a big 278 in the first game of the match. Putting the icing on the cake, Jesse went on notch a cool 244 in his second game. He finished with a great 687 series which was 156 pins over his average!. Along the way, Josh Worth chipped in a 240 game and Ken Kramer added a 220 game for the Clubbers.. Those nifty numbers were too much for the Barbecuers who, nevertheless, had a great season winning the secibd and third rounds in the Fraternal.
