Chris Dawkins photoMOUNT ASHLAND — Hood River Valley’s Emily Teets was the girls individual leader after day one of the 2025 Oregon Interscholastic Ski Racing Association’s state meet March 6 at Mount Ashland in Southern Oregon.
The Hood River Valley girls team were in third place after the giant slalom runs behind Bend and Sisters.
Teets had runs of 48.57 seconds and 49.78 seconds for a 1:38.35 combined time — 1.69 seconds ahead of Alyana VanHorn of South Medford. HRV’s Arlie Sparling finished 19th among the 85 skiers who completed two runs; teammate Zoe Mortensen was 32nd to complete the Eagle team score. Hood River’s Kailee Klindt was 62nd, Eliotte Walsh did not finish both runs.
The HRV boys were seventh after the first day (slalom competition). The Eagle team scorers included: Lars Welch (sixth overall), Jess Aubert (33rd), and Davis Pruder (46th). Jaden Johnson was 64th and Beckett Eaton did not finish both runs.
The final day of skiing was scheduled for March 7 with giant slalom runs for the boys and slalom runs for the girls. Hood River Valley was fourth overall in the combined girls and boys team standings after the first day.
