HOOD RIVER — Hood River County Reads, an annual community reading program now in its 18th year, kicked off last weekend with the distribution of this year’s book, “Beloved Beasts: Fighting for Life in an Age of Extinction,” by White Salmon author Michelle Nijhuis.
Visit the Hood River, Cascade Locks or Parkdale libraries for a copy, as available.
Upcoming events, all of which will be held in the Hood River Library’s reading room, include:
Saturday, March 9 at 2 p.m. — Wildlife Photography with Linda Steider.
Wednesday, March 13 at 6 p.m. — American Buffalo with Michelle Nijhuis and Ken Burns’ documentary clips.
Saturday, March 16 from 2-4 p.m. — All Gorge Creatures Great and Small with Jocelyn Akins, Elaine Harvey (Yakama), Will Weiler, Laurie Macdonald and Nijhuis, along with local conservation groups.
More programs are scheduled for April.
