Ferry Fire June 12 at noon

A fire near Cottonwood Canyon State Park has closed Highway 206 between Condon and Wasco.

SHERMAN CO. — Another fire has broken out in Sherman County five miles south of Cottonwood State Park. According to Gilliam County Sheriff's Office Highway 206 has been closed to through traffic between Condon and Wasco. According to the National Interagency Fire Center the blaze has ravaged approximately 5,000 acres.

The Sherman County Sheriffs Office, has issued Level 2 Be Ready evacuation orders for: Starvation Lane and Highway 206 on the north side, down to Higley Loop where it meets Fairview Road on the south side. And from John Day River on the east side, over to Fairview Road on the west side.
