A pickup truck ran into an excursion train on Sunday afternoon at the intersection of the tracks with Woodworth Road.
The front end of the vehicle driven by Thomas W. Durham, 21, of Parkdale was totalled.
The Mt. Hood Railroad cars, estimated to be carrying 70 passengers, were undamaged and no one aboard was injured, according to a report by the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office.
Durham was also unharmed but his passenger, Marian McFall, 76, sustained a minor bump on her head and other contussions. She was transported via ambulance to Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released.
Deputy Marc Smith, who investigated the accident, said the train was traveling about 14 miles an hour through the intersection when Durham struck it while moving at about 30 miles per hour.
There are no crossing guards at the junction and Durham reported to Smith that he did not hear the horn of the approaching train as he was pulling an empty horse trailer west on Woodworth with his 1994 Chevy three-quarter ton truck.
No charges were filed over the collision.
