Thomas the Tank Engine is set to roll into Hood River for the "Day Out With Thomas 2006: Come Ride the Rails Tour."
The 11th annual U.S. tour visits Hood River as part of a 10-month ride on the rails that steams into heritage railroads in over 40 U.S. cities. Over 1 million passengers are expected to ride with Thomas the Tank Engine, the classic storybook engine, at these events in 2006.
This fun-filled family festival offers preschoolers and their families the opportunity to take a 30-minute ride with Thomas the Tank Engine and is sure to engineer miles of smiles for every guest.
The event, which takes place June 24 to July 2, will be hosted by Mt. Hood Railroad.
Thomas the Tank Engine, star of Thomas & Friends, broadcast weekly on PBS KIDS and daily on PBS KIDS Sprout will be riding the rails across the country to visit all of his fans. This limited-engagement, one-year-only experience features a variety of Thomas & Friends-themed entertainment for the entire family, including:
Meet and take a photo with Sir Topham Hatt
Thomas & Friends Imagination Station; featuring stamps, temporary tattoos, hands-on arts and crafts activities, coloring sheets and engineer certificates
Storytelling, video viewing and live music
The tour provides a unique, interactive family experience at every station, offering a variety of entertaining activities that reflect the local flavor of each stop.
At the Mt. Hood Railroad, activities will include: climbing structures, a petting zoo, Smoke Stack Ring Toss, Little Bitty Bowling, Miniature Volleyball, Tee-off With Thomas, Little Artists Corner and more.
The 30-minute train ride with Thomas the Tank Engine will depart on the hour, rain or shine, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Fri., Sat., and Sundays, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mon. thru Thursday.
Tickets for the Day Out With Thomas 2006: Come Ride the Rails Tour are $14 for ages two and up.
