On the new year, we finally got some snow. Wasn't it gorgeous! Get out and enjoy!
The Trout Lake basketball season is here. The middle school basketball team was at Klickitat on Monday, Jan. 10, starting at 5 p.m. On Tuesday, Jan. 11, the high school team played at Klickitat at 4:30. On Thursday, Jan. 13, there will be a home game at 5 p.m. On Friday, the high school will play Glenwood at 6 p.m. If you need more information call the school.
The Seattle Seahawks, in a pool of 90 applicants, chose 11 finalists for the Seattle Seahawks Community Quarterback Award. The Seahawks recognized local volunteers and awarded $20,000 to the charitable organizations they serve. The winner received $10,000 for his charities. The other ten, including Robert Schmid, each received $1,000 for outstanding community service. Robert gave his $1,000 to the Trout Lake School.
The NFL will select a national winner and NFL Charities will make a $15,000 donation to his or her organization.
Residents of Washington state, age 13 and up, who provide volunteer services for nonprofit (501c3 or 509) organizations, exemplify leadership, dedication, and a commitment to the communities they live in, were eligible for nomination. Nominees may only serve in a volunteer capacity and may not receive compensation.
The finalists were chosen by a panel of 10 judges.
On Wednesday there will be a community forum at Fred and Diane Paxtons at 7 p.m.
