Scrapbooking on display at library

Levin, a member of the Made In The Gorge local artists' co-op, started "stamping" four years ago when she joined Stampin' Up! as an independent demonstrator. She branched out into scrapbooking about a year later.

"Once I started scrapbooking I was hooked," she said.

She finds it extremely satisfying to turn photographs and memories into works of art.

Stamping has allowed Levin's inner artist to emerge. As a science student in college she had no time to take art classes and always felt she was not creative. Once she discovered stamping she found that she had a good eye for color and design, and started creating beautiful projects.

Card making, the main focus of Levin's rubber-stamping projects, allows her to turn ordinary paper and ink into completed works of art in about 10 minutes. She embellishes cards and scrapbook pages with ribbon, buttons, eyelets, found objects, glitter...and the list goes on.

Levin believes that all ages can enjoy creating scrapbook pages and cards.

Children feel important when they see scrapbook pages made of their achievements, milestones and everyday adventures.'

"No matter how uncreative you believe yourself to be, you can create wonderful cards, scrapbooks and other items. Stamping is fun and can be enjoyed by everyone," she said.

This fall Levin will be offering free classes at the library for kids through adults to share her expertise and help you get started on your own scrap booking and card making adventure.
