The Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area (CRGNSA) has produced a motor vehicle use map that is available to the public.
While there are no roads, trails or cross country travel open to unlicensed off highway vehicles in the CRGNSA, this map displays National Forest System roads designated open to licensed motorized travel.
The goal of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area travel management program is to create a safe and sustainable road and trail system that provides recreational opportunities and appropriate access while protecting forest resources.
The motor vehicle use map displays uses allowed by vehicle class (highway-legal vehicles and motorcycles), dispersed camping, and seasonal allowances.
It also provides information on other travel rules and regulations. National Forest Service routes not shown on the motor vehicle use map are not open to public motor vehicle travel.
Routes designated for motorized use may not always be signed on the ground, but will be identified on the map.
Visitors to the CRGNSA should refer to the motor vehicle use map to determine designated routes for motor vehicle use.
The motor vehicle use map is a black and white map with no topographic features, and is best used in conjunction with a Forest visitor map, ranger district map, or other topographic map.
The motor vehicle use map is free to the public and hardcopies are available at the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area office, Skamania Lodge, and Multnomah Falls Visitor Center.
