Port searches for headhunters to find director

Two Portland firms that specialize in recruiting qualified candidates will be interviewed on Tuesday. Waldron Resources and Technical Assistance for Community Services will both send representatives to the work session that begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Expo Center conference room.

The port is seeking a replacement for Dave Harlan, who stepped down in early December to seek other job opportunities.

Port President Sherry Bohn is hopeful that a new director will be onboard by June. Meanwhile, she said an interim director will probably be appointed by the middle of January to oversee daily tasks. She and the other board members are currently working with staffers to keep operations running smoothly.

“I’m hoping that we can pick a firm next week and move forward,” said Bohn.
