Addison "Sam" Butler Garlock, 80, died in Vanouver, on Dec. 5, 2004. He was born in Michigan on July 10, 1924, the son of Ruby Mae (Genter) and Addison Austin Garlock.

Addison "Sam" Butler Garlock, 80, died in Vanouver, on Dec. 5, 2004. He was born in Michigan on July 10, 1924, the son of Ruby Mae (Genter) and Addison Austin Garlock.
After living in Michigan, Mr. Garlock moved to San Pedro, Calif., where he worked for McNerney's Funeral Home, Shell Oil Company and as a liquor officer for the state of California. Mr. Garlock was also a San Pedro Harbor Longshoremen for 33 years.
On Aug. 2, 1947, Mr. Garlock married Rosemary Baroni. The couple moved to Cook, in 1969 and has lived there since.
Mr. Garlock was an artist who loved working with watercolors. He painted landscapes, drew cartoons and made Halloween masks out of papier mache. He was also an art collector. Sam was a very generous man and a good husband and father. His family never had any wants.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Garlock, at home; daughters Carolyn Adams, Henderson, Nev., Andrea LaFazio of Lyle, and Avalon Visser of Hood River, Ore.; sisters Cheyenne Demmitt and Kathleen Weidner, both of San Pedro; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service for Mr. Garlock will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Stevenson. Burial will take place at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore. at 3 p.m.
Memorials contribution may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Gardner Funeral Home, who handled arrangements.
