The Klickitat County Historical Society will hold its annual meeting and program on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 1 p.m. at the American Legion in Goldendale.
The day begins with a presentation from Ardith Carratt of her new book, "Margaret Keys Hoech; The Hat Lady." Hoech was a much beloved home economics teachers at Goldendale High School in the 1950s.
The 1856 Military Road program will include society members Dick Wheelhouse, Jim Link, Tony Sarsfield and Ken Marvel presenting some of the material they have found on the Military Road and also the stagecoach route across the county starting in the 1870s. A sketch of the sign the society is preparing to erect in the Warwick area designating the route of the roads will also be shown.
The society's business meeting includes reports from committees, the financial report, the election of officers and an introduction of the group's next big project -- putting a new roof on Presby Museum.
The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.
