This was the weekend for Fire Hall sales and yard sales. If you missed the Annual High Prairie Fire Hall sale, you missed lots of good buys, good food and good company. It was a success!
We also attended the 3rd Annual Klickitat Community Yard Sale. We went late in the day so missed a lot of it, but it also was a success! Make a note on your calendar for June of next year for both of these fun events. Even if you don't purchase much, it is a great way to spend the weekend.
Maria Reeves celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday at the A & G Adult Foster Home where she lives. Fifteen staff, residents and friends joined in the celebration. She received many gifts and flowers. We're so proud of this Foster home and Barbara will be opening a second foster home at the end of this week.
Did you attend the Gorge Commission review meeting in Lyle June 5? Many questions came from this gathering! Why wasn't it an open meeting where the public could give their input? Lyle History Cont.: One of the first things the ladies did was to take $8 and pay Mister Morginson to go to Pasco to see about the Highway. They contacted Samuel Hill and asked him to come to Lyle and see the needs of the community, and he did.
As the main mode of travel was the boat lines of the Columbia, the ladies felt that a proper marking should designate the town of Lyle. The women contacted The Dalles, Portland and Astoria Navigation Company, and a sign was erected on the banks of the Columbia.
