The Friends of the White Salmon Valley Community Library invite the community to attend the 36th Annual Holiday Wassail open house to be held in conjunction with the downtown "I'm Dreaming of a White Salmon" holiday celebration on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 2 to 5 p.m.
Join the Friends any time throughout the afternoon for a variety of music by area musicians, art, artisan demonstrations, along with children's craft activities.
The Friends of the Library will be offering a delicious array of sweet and savory refreshments along with their traditional hot Wassail punch to help launch your seasonal celebrations.
Artisans for this year's event include: The Northwest Regional Spinning Association fiber artists demonstrating spinning, knitting and other fiber techniques; and the Hood River Christian Church Auxiliary demonstrating how to make crocheted floor mats from recycled plastic bags, a project to provide for the homeless. Children are invited to enjoy some hands-on fun with a variety of holiday crafts, and activities.
Works by the Hood Rive Art Club will be on display in the library's Sprint/Baker Gallery. Meet the artists and view their works in a variety of media. The exhibit will continue throughout the month of December and will be available for viewing during regular library hours.
The musical lineup for this year's Wassail is scheduled as follows:
Bob Schwarz on piano throughout the afternoon -- impromptu sing-along welcome
2 p.m. -- It Takes Four acappella quartet
3 p.m. -- Steve Jones on guitar and harmonica leading our kids' holiday sing-along
3:30 p.m. -- The Preludes youth orchestra
4 p.m. -- Asbury Handbell Choir
Columbia High School music ensemble (time is a surprise!)
Top off the day's festivities with the community tree-lighting downtown shortly after 5 p.m.
