KIHR-AM 1340 in Hood River is now broadcasting in stereo on 98.3 FM.
Recent changes in Federal Communications Commission rules allow AM stations to be rebroadcast on FM translators. KIHR's 250-watt translator on 98.3 FM brings a current country format on the FM band to Hood River, West Klickitat County, and east Skamania County.
It also brings local programming to the FM dial on daily basis, including news and information on Mid-Columbia Mornings from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., the popular Mid-Columbia Today talk show from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., Spanish language "LaDiferencia" from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and Hood River Valley High School football, basketball, baseball, and softball games.
Bicoastal Media Director of Programming Mark Bailey says "KIHR on 98.3 FM gives a crisp, clear sound to that station it has never had before, and should improve its reach into the Hood River Valley."
KIHR programming will continue to air on 1340 on the AM dial, and Mid-Columbia Mornings, Mid-Columbia Today, and HRVHS sports will also continue to be streamed online at Gorgeradio.com.
