Senior J.J. Keys had 19 points and 13 rebounds but Klickitat lost the Dec. 28 championship game of the Helix (Ore.) Christmas Tournament, 61-46, to the Pendleton, Ore., junior varsity.
The Vandals led, 19-11, after one quarter and held a 32-31 edge at halftime.
But Pendleton surged ahead in the third quarter, outscoring Klickitat, 14-3.
Freshman Michael McConville added nine points and junior Richard McConville chipped in with five assists for Klickitat, which ended December with a 3-3 record and its second tournament runner-up finish.
In the girls consolation game, Klickitat claimed third place with a 42-29 victory over the Pendleton JV.
Junior Melissa Huwe had a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds as the Vandals made their December record 4-3.
Senior Sherri Brewer contributed 12 points and junior Aryn Davis hauled down 22 rebounds for Klickitat, which owned an 18-5 lead at the end of one quarter.
On day one of the tournament, Klickitat's boys hung on for a 61-58 win over host Helix.
Keys had a stat line of 23 points, six rebounds, seven assists and five steals for the Vandals, who also got 17 points from senior Cory Fakesch in advancing to the title game.
Klickitat's girls lost their tournament opener to Helix, 52-39.
Huwe led the Vandals with 14 points and eight rebounds. Brewer added 10 points and Davis tallied 13 rebounds and four steals.
