Into the Woods is based on the book by James Lapine with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The musical won many Tony awards in 1988.
The fun-filled performances will be full of acting, singing and live music showcasing the talent of White Salmon's young people.
Young and old will delight as the old familiar tales of Little Red Ridinghood, Jack and the Bean Stalk, Cinderella, Rapunzel and the Baker and His Wife are intertwined to create this entertaining musical.
Into the Woods is double cast, so attendees may want to come more than one night.
The local cast features Joe Mahaffey and Nolan Kenoyer who will lead the show as the Baker. Jennifer Moore and Jill Graves will play the Baker's Wife. Andrea London and Aurora Hindahl serve as the witch. Ashleigh Casey and Michelle Shrum narrate the tale.
The cast is completed with Angela Blackmer, Kaitlyn Campbell, Amy Courtney, Jill Graves, Rachel Harper, Heather Humberg, Haley Hunsaker, Katie Johnson, Alison Kreiter, Sierra Larsen, Sophia Lehmer, Nicole Logan, Chelsea Ludwig, Andrian Matosich, Erin McCutcheon, Casey McGrey, Bronda Middleton, Ashley Neff, Paige Peterson, MaryAnn Pyke, Dylan Quigley, Brett Rawding, Rainee Rohrabacher, Ronni Shelly, Michele Shrum, Naomi Summa, Lindsey Tibke, Chelse Weber, Rebecca Wellman, Seana Desken, Miles Howard, Aurora Hindahl, Heather McClain and Bert Plimmer.
Under the direction of drama teacher Jennifer Graves, the technical crew and staging crews have worked extremely hard. Amy Courtney and Ashley Neff lead the group as their assistant directors, and Chris Crammer returns as a high school assistant that leads in the capacity of choreographer/director.
The stage sets are designed by Ben Leininger. He is also the technical director. Sierra Larsen also serves as stage manager. Kelsey Kidd, Caitlin Dominguez and Kaitlyn Campbell also designed small stage sets that will be used in the performance. Jill Graves is in charge of publicity. David White has also created a wonderful slide show illustrating the process of creating the musical. It will be presented during intermission.
On the nights of the show the middle school band will serve as intermission entertainment conducted by Daniel Ray. Band members will showcase upbeat music that follows the fast paced style of the musical.
Tickets can be purchased at the door -- $3 for adults and $2 for children.
