Don Smith sent the following: The LKW Football Booster Club's Crab Feed was HUGE success. A BIG "Thank you" goes out to the three communities of Lyle, Wishram and Klickitat for supporting the middle school and varsity football teams. The Newport crabs were very big, very sweet and very feisty-most put quite a fight going into their "hot-tub." After expenses, we raised over $1,800. More "Thanks" goes to everyone, t0o numerous to mention here, who contributed items to the Silent Auction. The Booster Club appreciates your support. The response was so good we plan to do another in November and then annually every November. We would also like to say "Thank You" to the Lyle Lions Club for the use of the building. See you at the Football games."
Sad to say -- the Lyle Saturday Market was short lived. It had so little response during the first month of operation they decided it wasn't worth the venders' time and efforts. So this venture proved to be unproductive.
Happy to say -- the 13 Mile Yard sale was a roaring success. We had proprietors say their wares were picked over and almost sold out by late morning. The crowds bustled about the streets gloating over each bargain and new treasure found. Overheard were people discussing the distances they had driven, to attend this 3rd annual event -- from Dufur, Ore.. to Lynden.

"Mr. James was secretary from that time until his death in 1967 and for all business purposes he was the main stay of the corporation. The stockholders met annually, at which time they were treated to a delicious dinner and given the annual report. The water rates were very low and stockholders did not realize much more than that dinner on their investment."
"While Mr. James was secretary a lot of upgrading of the system was done and many water lines were replaced or improved. In 1955 a 120,000 gal. reservoir was built on the hill overlooking Omeg Heights and a new booster pump was purchased. Then in 1957 the SP&S Railway, in return for water furnished for its needs, donated its well and pump house located near the depot. Also about this time an intertie system between the wells was constructed, the upper reservoir was relined and a concrete dome placed on it."
