The annual Community Thanksgiving Service will be held this year on Sunday evening, Nov. 24, at 7 p.m. in the White Salmon United Methodist Church.
Preaching the Thanksgiving sermon will be Pastor Ron Momb of Lyle. His sermon title, "Enter with Thanksgiving," is based on Psalm 100.
Pastor Momb, an ordained rabbi, will bring to his sermon the perspective of first century Jewish congregations that proclaimed Jesus as the promised Messiah.
Momb is co-pastor with his wife, Batya, of the N'Vay Tikivah (Oasis of Hope) messianic Fellowship in Lyle, a congregation of Christians and Jews who believe the Messiah has come in Jesus Christ.
Supplying the music and leading the singing for the evening will be a number of worship teams from local churches.
The freewill offering this year, as in past years, will go to the churches' common Emergency Fund. The fund provides the necessities of life not covered by social service agencies in the community. Since there will be no Christmas Cantata this year, the Community Thanksgiving Service will be the only opportunity for the public to contribute to the fund.
