Nathan Bell led the Black Knights' running attack, gaining 85 yards and scoring the team's lone touchdown.

Bell's scoring run of 6 yards and Jarred Garwood's successful point-after kick in the third quarter brought the Black Knights within 16-8.

But though it continued to move the ball on the ground with success, White Salmon didn't cross the goal line again.

Ryan Aldrich finished with 46 rushing yards, and Garwood and Kyle Wilkins each picked up 25 in a game White Salmon trailed 16-0 after one quarter and at halftime.

Other standouts for the Black Knights (2-4) included Aldrich and Matt Bergstrom on defense, and Tom Crumpacker, Ben Vollema and Kiefer Kreps on both sides of the ball.

The Dalles Black 32, at White Salmon Red 8:

Fullback Cody Gromes ran for more than 100 yards and scored the Red Raiders' only touchdown during last Saturday's regular-season finale.

Down 16-0 at the half, White Salmon halved The Dalles' lead in the third quarter when Gromes found the end zone from 28 yards out and Jordan McClain booted the point-after.

The Dalles, however, countered with a scoring drive and 2-point conversion of its own to make it 24-8 after three quarters.

Defensive standouts for the Red Raiders (0-6) included Tanner Rabinowitz, who had an interception and a fumble recovery, and Jake Walker on the line.

Key contributors on offense, in addition to Gromes, were Ryan Earls, who ran for nearly 50 yards from scrimmage before leaving in the second half with an injury, and R.J. Hicks, who completed passes to McClain and Cody Guler, and also had a few nice runs.

"The boys played real well," White Salmon coach Kelly Kreps said. "They just weren't able to get the ball into the end zone."
