The community members of Hospital District #2 Skyline Hospital voted and approved an EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Levy where the community was assured that they would have full 24 hour ambulance coverage along with other services paid for by these levy dollars.
At the Skyline Hospital Board meeting on Jan. 24, hospital commissioners voted to reduce ambulance coverage in Klickitat County. Effective March 1, the Dallesport ambulance will be available to respond 12 hours per day, seven days a week versus the current 24 hours a day coverage.
The Lyle Fire Department EMS volunteers will still be responding to emergency calls as usual and Skyline Hospital has one ambulance available to serve the entire area. Pilates certified fitness instructor Caroline Elliott is offering classes starting Feb. 2, every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30 a.m. at the Lyle Activity Center on the corner of 3rd and Klickitat Streets. Soon our Activity Center will have heat in every room. Norm White is working hard to replace the old classroom heaters with new ones attained from charitable donations and grants. Renovation is a perpetual agenda but with all the volunteers that generously give of their time and talents, rest assured that eventually the building will be as good as new or even better. It is a valuable asset to the community as well as the adjoining green space and play ground. Anyone wishing to join the present volunteers would be most welcome.
