Ron and Mary Ann Holloway met in Washington, where he was a naval aviator and she was a teacher who had moved to the state by way of Nebraska. They were married Sept. 14, 1968, on Whidbey Island, where Ron was stationed.
Upon being honorably discharged from the Navy in January 1969, they moved to Minneapolis, Minn., where Ron worked for Northwest Airlines. One month later, they moved to Dallas, Texas, where Ron was a pilot for Braniff International.
During the course of their nine years in Dallas, their three children — Chad (1972), Nick (1974) and Christina (1976) — were born, and Ron built his career as a pilot with Braniff while Mary Ann was a stay home mother.
The family moved in 1977 to Longmont, Colo., and once more in 1978 to Hood River, where Ron was born and raised, and in turn where he wanted their children to be raised. Ron rounded out his flying career with more than a few airlines, retiring as a flight inspector for the Federal Aviation Administration. Mary Ann returned to education once the children were all in school, working for Baptist Christian School and the Hood River County School District.
The Holloways are proud parents and grandparents of Chad and daughter-in-law Bobbie (Cooper), Nick and daughter-in-law Abby (Signe, Gunnar, Zane, Karsten) and Christina and son-in-law Stuart (Annika and Britta).
