Robert, Susan Copper to celebrate their 70th anniversary

Robert and Susan Copper will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary the weekend of Aug. 26 with their children, Linda (Steve) Jones, Gary (Anne) Copper and Julie (Jeff) Davis. They will be joined by their 10 grandchildren with spouses and 19 great-grandchildren.

The Coopers were married in Hood River on Aug. 30, 1953, in a double wedding with Susan’s twin sister and her husband, Joe and Sally Kirkwood of Big Lake, Alaska. The Coopers moved to The Dalles after Bob’s graduation from OSU, where they raised their four children and operated Copper’s Home Center. They have been active members of Gateway Church for more than 65 years, and Bob has been active in Lion’s Club for 50 years.
