THE DALLES – With the coming spring brings warmer temperatures and the start of the cycling season.
When the dust settled in 2013 the inaugural Gorge Roubaix race in The Dalles ended up with 250 participants, so there is hope that the numbers could continue its upward climb.
Based upon last year’s successful draw, Breakaway Promotions is expanding the event this year to include two weekend days of racing March 29-30.
Racers can do one or both races.
Noting the success of the event, Castelli cycling apparel continues for the second year as title sponsor.
Castelli is a recognized leader in cycling apparel with their USA headquarters in Portland.
This springtime racing in The Dalles featuring beautiful countryside, dryer and warmer weather, undulating roads and — of course — plenty of gravel is the perfect mix to draw racers from our regional and local areas.
Not only is there significant representation of local riders, but a large percentage of the participants are from outside of the Gorge area; (Portland, Vancouver, Bend, Redmond, Tri-cities, and Ashland).
The featured roads with gravel sections make the Gorge Roubaix a unique and interesting road race, especially in the early spring.
