Redsides nipped by Lyle in five

Lyle bounced back from a 2-1 deficit to score wins of 25-11 and 15-9 to grab the road win.

“It was a momentum-swing type match,” said first-year head coach Donna Barton. “Lyle did a good job of keeping the ball alive. Our serve-receive was good, except for a stretch in the fourth game and that really was the difference.”

Ally Muhleman led the hitters by going 22 of 26 with nine kills, and teammate Baily Hogenkamp notched an eight-kill effort.

All told, the Redsides showed improvement on serves by connecting at a 90 percent clip.

Hogenkamp went 25 for 25, and Molly Foreaker was good for 13 of 13.

“We improved in a lot of areas,” Barton continued. “We cut our unforced errors down. We attacked more, but still need to attack more.”

SWC travels to Bend for a doubleheader versus Country Christian and Trinity Lutheran starting at 1 p.m. Saturday.
