“It looked like we were playing our third game in three nights, as we were a step slow for most of the night,” said Dufur head coach Ron Townsend. “We were able to get some easy hoops off the break in the second quarter, which allowed us to break the game open.”
The Rangers held on to a 12-9 cushion through one quarter of play, but then took control with a 22-9 second-quarter rally for a 34-18 halftime lead.
Dufur tacked on runs of 23-12 and 10-7 in the final two periods to wrap up the 30-point blowout win.
Bailey Keever scored eight points, and the tandem of Travis Lucas and Kolbe Bales combined for five points each.
For Ione, Wyatt McNary notched 14 points.
Now No. 12 in the state, Dufur (8-2 overall, 3-1 league) hosts Condon-Wheeler at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
After that, the Rangers host Arlington for a start time of 5:30 p.m.
