Chloe Beeson scored 17 of her points in just three quarters, and the Dufur Rangers had seven players hit field goals in a 52-42 win over Ione Saturday in a Big Sky Conference showdown at Ione High School.
Ione jumped ahead by an 11-7 score through the first quarter, but Dufur worked a 10-9 second-quarter split to inch to within a 20-17 deficit at the half.
The Lady Rangers took the lead for good in the third quarter, as Beeson hit for seven points, Alexus Outlaw drained a 3-pointers, Mikayla Kelly had three points, and Kayla Bailey had a field goal to finish a 15-4 third quarter run to make it a 32-24 advantage entering the final period.
Dufur managed six field goals and converted 7 of 10 free throws for a 20-18 spurt.
Bailey had nine points, Outlaw and Kelly teamed up for eight each, and Leticia Macias wound up with five points for the Rangers, who had 18 field goals, four 3-pointers, and went 12 for 18 free throws.
Maggie Flynn had 21 points to lead Ione, and teammates Morgan Orem totaled seven and Ivy Sandford finished with five points.
The Cardinals had 15 field goals, three 3-pointers, and shot 9 of 26 from the free throw line.
“We played well enough to win. We had foul trouble throughout, but were able to finish,” said Dufur head coach Jack Henderson. “Our younger girls had to step up and they did. It was a good team win.”
Dufur (4-6 overall, 2-2 league) hosts Condon-Wheeler at 6 p.m. Friday, and then hosts Arlington for another league tilt at 4 p.m. Saturday evening.
