THE DALLES track athlete Peyton Wojtecki makes a pole vault attempt in a meet in The Dalles. Wednesday in Bend, She had a top height of 6-feet-6 inches to place 12th amongst a field of 18.
The Dalles racked up 11 top-5 finishes, including two firsts from Paul Clark and a top output from Ian Corey in the high jump in the Summit Junior Varsity Track and field Meet Wednesday at Summit High School in Bend.
Clark set a high mark in the triple jump with a distance of 39-feet-4 inches and the junior tacked on an 18-11.75 for first place in the long jump.
Corey, a senior, soared past his field of 24 participants with a height of 5-8, two inches off his personal record. He would then add a time of 19.33 for fifth place in the 110-meter hurdles, and wound up fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with his 46.74.
Glenn Breckterfield placed fifth in the 400-meters with a time of 56.81 seconds, Luke McLean grabbed fifth place in the 1,500-meters in 4:46.40 and he was third in the 3,000 with a time of 10:31.20.
Leon Linebarger had a toss of 37-8 to secure fifth place in the shotput, Julian Hernandez had a toss of 125-4 in the javelin and Jordan McGuirk ended up in eighth place with a throw of 95-4 in the discus.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Josiah Abrams, Clark, Caleb Wild and Breckterfield combined for a time of 4:02.30 to tally fourth-place honors.
Those times and distances gave The Dalles 36 points for third place as a team, behind Crook County (79) and Summit (60).
TD’s girls ended up in eighth place with four points, as Aileen Luna-Lopez, Louise Smith, Taylor Sugg, Kellina Coy and Kayla Seibel each placed within the top-5.
Lakeview (48), Crook County (28) and Culver (27) rounded out the team standings.
Luna-Lopez had a time of 30.27 to take third place, Sugg was fifth in the same event with her mark of 30.57 and Peyton Wojtecki timed out in 31.59 for seventh place.
Bailey Nearing had a time of 2:55.90 to grab sixth place in the 800-meter race, Smith had a time of 54.14 in the 300-meter hurdles for fourth place.
Coy had a height of 8-0 in the pole vault, Seibel was fourth in the triple jump with a measurement of 30-0.50, Sugg placed eighth in the 400-meters in 73.63 and Larissa Gaige had a toss of 55-9 in the javelin.
In the 4x100-meter relay, Alexia Tapia, Emily Clark, Coy and Monica Salazar had a mark of 59.81 to score sixth place.
Summit completed the sweep with the girls posting 67.99 points.
The Dalles was in Gresham today for the Dean Nice Invitational.
