Early surge fuels Sherman girls

Sherman’S Megan McKinney, left, snags a rebound from Trout Lake’s Beyyine Ozkan during the second half of Tuesday's game in Moro. McKinney scored 10 points and the Huskies used the first three frames to cruise past Trout Lake by a 50-36 score.

Limited to a crash course of drills and fundamentals in a single organized practice, the Sherman Huskies hit the ground running against 4A Mac-Hi with a dominant 44-27 victory Saturday in a non-league girls’ basketball game at Sherman High School in Moro.

“It was a good first game for us for a few reasons,” said Sherman head coach Steve Kaseberg. “All 12 players got a lot of playing time, it showed the program that we have many areas to improve and clean up. This game showed some real positives when we played together and didn't panic.”
