Huskies bring a rough and tumble attitude

The Sherman Husky football team plans to go back to its roots of playing a rough and tumble style on the gridiron. With an offensive line and ends that average 211 pounds, new head coach Mike Somnis is using that added size to open holes for the running back crew of Chris and Jeremy Ballesteros, Bradley Moe and Treve Martin, and give extra time in the pocket for senior quarterback Jacob Justesen. In a nine-win 2016 campaign, where they clinched a Big Sky Conference title, the Huskies racked up 4,673 yards and scored 592 points.

MORO – Back after a four-year break from coaching, Mike Somnis took a look at the size and physicality of his offensive line and knew he wanted to instill a three-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust philosophy.

With a line that averages 211 pounds, he wants his line to play a tough brand of football to open gaping holes for running backs Jeremy and Chris Ballesteros and Reese Blake, and fullbacks Bradley Moe and Treve Martin, to run through, and give senior quarterback Jacob Justesen extra time to operate.
