Over the past three years, Jason and Julie Hull have consistently shown that their shooting touch is second to none.
While facing competitors from The Dalles to Baker City, the Maupin natives combined to shoot 40 of 50 to take home first-place honors for the third year in a row at the Elks Northeast District I Free Throw event held on Sunday, Jan. 6 at Sandstone Middle School in Hermiston.
There were 36 shooters signed up for action in three age categories, ranging from 8-and-9-year-olds, 10-11 and 12-13, for an average of six in each group.
Each participant had 10 attempts to start and then the order flipped for 15 additional shots with the top percentage advancing.
In the 10-11 division, Jason paced the six-person field with 9 of 10 makes, and then he finished with a 10 of 15 stretch to chalk up his win.
Julie, who went up against six in the 12-13 classification, also put a solid 9 of 10, and eventually pulled away with 12 of 15 made shots to secure her win.
With the first step out of the way, the Hull siblings will be putting in the work over the next month to move past state and into regionals.
