Mid-Columbia Producers is seeking a tenant for the former Windseeker Restaurant, located in the port district, which they purchased last year.
Mark GibsonMid-Columbia Producers, which purchased the Windseeker Restaurant building last year, is looking for a new tenant, said Manager Jeff Kaser.
"We haven't had much luck finding a restaurant operator, so we're opening it up to other uses," Kaser said.
Its location along the Riverfront Trail, with beautiful views up and down the Columbia Gorge, has "potential" written all over it for the right tenant, she said.
A new owner could also capitalize on the anticipated increase in bicycle traffic through the Gorge as new routes open along the Historic Columbia River Highway.
Office and storage space are a couple of potential uses, although Kaser says it could be a turnkey operation for a restaurant operator: Most of the equipment, dishes and furniture is still in the building.
The property includes the 6,000-square-foot building, 1.2 acres and plenty of parking. More parking across the trail access pathway on the grain elevator site is also a possibility, Kaser said.
"We can be flexible," Kaser said.
CONTINUED EXPANSION
Mid-Columbia Producers has also acquired two other properties in The Dalles.
The growers' cooperative purchased the Feed Shack and the Veltex gas station, both on East Second Street.
The Veltex is being operated as a commercial card lock, though they also can provide diesel cards for consumers.
Kaser sees the Feed Shack as having good synergy with MCP's two other store locations, Goldendale and Moro, and they have added some items to the stock at The Dalles, Kiser said.
They offer a different selection from the Goldendale and Moro stores, but items from the other two stores can be delivered to the Feed Shack for interested customers.
