Stars and Steps

A HANDMADE quilt, king-sized, is proudly displayed by crafters Gladine Hattrup, left, Linda Huteson, Brenda Trapp and Lois Dunsmore, who made the bed covering for the 37th annual St. Peter’s Bazaar raffle Saturday, Nov. 21, at St. Mary’s Academy, 1112 Cherry Heights Road in The Dalles. Once the hundreds of pieces were stitched together, Lisa Shafer of Moro used a special sewing machine to quilt them together in a leaf pattern. Tickets for the quilt are $1 each and may be purchased at the bazaar, which opens at 9 a.m., or from Dunsmore by calling 298-1778. This year’s quilt, the 19th made by the group, was named “Stars and Steps” because it is a combination of the Ohio Star and Courthouse Steps patterns. The drawing will take place at 3 p.m. at the bazaar and ticket holders need not be present to win.
