Food passion is now profession

In fact, she took on the job of catering the Jerri Walker-DePriest scholarship fund dinners in Dufur for 15 years.

Cooking in quantity is a natural thing for Cobb.

And she’s helped friends cater big events for free for years.

“If people needed a salad or something, I just did it for them because I liked doing it,” Cobb said.

So it wasn’t too big a leap to start her own catering company, Cobblestone Catering, which she did in June. Over the summer, she’s been feeding the hungry workers on the Google expansion project. In the same time span, she’s also catered receptions, a baby shower and auctions.

Soon she’ll go back to her primary focus, catering events such as weddings, funerals, reunions and other kinds of receptions.

She caters events of all sizes, from small lunch events to a full lasagna and fettucinie alfredo lunch for 475 that Google leadership put on for the construction workers.

“We had six lines and got 475 people through in just shy of 20 minutes,” Cobb said.

She offers a menu of options for appetizers, entrees, hot sides, cold sides and desserts, and more, but says it is by no means a complete list. She is happy to work with event organizers to come up with a menu tailored for a special event.

“I love making food,” she said. “I love visiting with people and getting different ideas from them on what they would like.”

She also has a kids’ menu.

“How many times have you been at a wedding and heard a kid say ‘I’m not eating that’?” Cobb said. So she has created a menu of child favorites including macaroni and cheese and homemade wiener wraps. Cobb is also happy to provide box lunches and catered business lunches.
