An outstanding mix of excellent bowling emerged from last week’s league action at Orchard Lanes up on the Heights in Hood River. As a result, we have a fantastic team of the week comprised of three of our favorite regulars who don’t get much ink, plus one of our top bowlers and two guys who are really hot right now.
Congratulations to Ellen Davis, Jeff Drennan, and Margaret Goddard, who bowled lights-out to make our fab team for the first time this season. Enjoy the limelight!
Ellen out-bowled everybody last week, beating her average by 144 pins in the Thursday HR County league, where she racked up a beautiful scratch 210 game.
Jeff found bowling nirvana in the Monday night Industrial League, where he tossed a mighty fine scratch 212 game and finished up 102 pins over his average for the session.
Margaret became the irresistible force in the Tuesday Nite Mixed League as she topped her average by 101 pins, which helped to propel her Cousins team to a 4-0 sweep of their opponents.
Mick Sherrell and Stuart Sneider are as hot as firecrackers in July right now as this duo each have made our big-time team twice in the past few weeks. Local bowling wags are all a twitter about Mick, who is really making his mark with pro-style scores, like the cool scratch 693 series that he rolled in the Wednesday afternoon senior Lads & Lassies League. That effort was 129 pins over his average. Stuart was 119 pins over his average in the same session, where he notched his first scratch 600 series of the season with a fine 602 that was capped by a nice 233 game.
And classy Mark Chabotte led everybody in scoring last week with a fancy scratch 728 series that he fired in the Industrial. That performance was 101 pins over his average, which has now risen to 211 pins per game — the third highest average in the city. Great bowling, everybody!
