Team of the Week
Charlotte Severns, +160 (760)
Kevin Rogers, +128 (728)
Jeremy Bloom, +126 (783)
Ken Kramer, +112 (763)
Bob Mason, +107 (761)
Charlotte Severns was the No. 1 bowler in town last week after having an outstanding outing in the Wednesday afternoon senior Colts & Fillies league at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes. Charlotte had the pins dancing every which way but loose and improved with every game, finishing up her series with a mighty fine scratch 210 game.
For the three gamer, Charlotte was 160 pins over her average, the most in town last week. She is no stranger to bowling limelight, being a long time top notch keglerette here in Hood River and a regular, multiple league bowler who has been a key member of some of the best ladies teams in town. This marks the second time this season that she’s made the Team of the Week.
Kevin Rogers also starred in the Colts & Fillies, finishing his session 128 pins over his average, good enough to take the second spot on this team of the week. Kevin is a new face around here, so we expect big things from him in the ensuing weeks ahead.
Our last three stars are very familiar names in the Hood River bowling scene. Jeremy Bloom was on fire again as he notched the highest scratch series posted at the lanes last week in the Tuesday Nite Mixed. The main man at D & S Frame and Body sculpted a beautiful 738 on consistent games of 255, 246 and 237 to make this week’s fab five. This marks the second time that Jeremy has made the Team of the Week this season and why not — he’s one of the best bowlers in town!
Our clean-up spot goes to a man who sure knows where the strike zone is, the gregarious Ken Kramer. Ken, who took on the family orchards here a couple of years ago, is an avid bowler who keeps up with the game by using the latest hi-tech bowling balls. He sure had them working in the powerful Wednesday night Fraternal league where he notched a scratch 649 series on consistent games of 223, 214 and 212 which was 112 pins over his average.
And last but certainly not least, is Buntings main man (sorry, Judy!) who nabbed the anchor spot on the big five this week after posting a solid scratch 656 series on games of 225, 225 and 206 in the Tuesday Nite Mixed. Bob finished up 107 pins over his average and this marks the second time he has made the team in this young bowling season.
There were several more quality performances that just missed being good enough to make this team of the week. Rowan Sharkey was 103 pins over his average in the Industrial as was Neil Johnson in the Thursday afternoon senior Lads & Lassies. Mega-hook artist Jeff Brittle was close behind after firing a fine 681 series in the Fraternal that was 102 pins over his average. Finally, the genius behind XTC Truck & Toy, Russ Frazier, was 100 pins over his average as he had those off the corner, down and in slants of his scattering the sticks willy-nilly to the tune of a nice scratch 676 series that was capped by a large 256 game.
Great bowling everybody!
