THE DALLES — The Columbia Gorge Hustlers 18U American Legion team went 2-3 the past week, losing 1-8 to the Corvallis Marketmen July 6 on the road, beating West Linn Legion 16U, 9-2 and 8-1, on July 9 on the road, and finishing the week with a 3-2 loss and a 8-7 loss at the Everett Street Mechanics Single A Club on July 12.
The Hustlers (18-9) struggled to get going against Corvallis, finishing with seven errors and five hits. Hood River’s Landen Pratt went 1-for-3 from the plate with an RBI for the lone run on the day.
In game one against West Linn’s 16U squad, the Hustlers flipped the script with 10 hits and one error. Hood River’s Trevor Jacobs went 3-for-4 from the plate with two RBI and scored two runs.
Pratt got the start on the mound and pitched three innings with seven strikeouts, no hits and gave up a run. The Dalles’ Sawyer Case came in for three innings and finished with three strikeouts, gave up two hits and one run. The Dalles High’s Daylee Miller closed it out in the last inning with two strikeouts.
In game two, it was more of the same for the Hustlers as they outhit West Linn 5-1 in the win. Pratt led the way from the plate as he went 2-for-2 with an RBI and scored two runs.
The Dalles’ Gunner Bustos got the start on the mound and pitched three innings with four strikeouts, one walk, one hit and gave up a run. Miller stepped in for an inning with two strikeouts and three walks.
The Hustlers play the Yakima Pepsi Beetles in two separate doubleheaders, July 14 at home and July 15 on the road. Then they’ll take on the Hillsboro Baseballism Wetsox July 17 at home and finish with an alumni game July 18.
