HOOD RIVER — The Hood River Valley boys tennis team won two more matches this past week, 8-0 on April 23 over Hillsboro, and 4-1 on April 21 over Putnam.
The Northwest Oregon Conference wins improved HRV’s overall record to 9-3 this season. Coach Jon Hiatt’s Eagles got straight set wins in boys Nos. 1 and 2 singles from Carson Abel and Kash Wagner and a — 6-2, 7-6 — win from Ansel Bernard in No. 3 singles vs. Hillsboro.
Those three players also won against Putnam, as did the doubles team of Emmi Galindo and Green Sutton, by a 6-0, 6-0 margin. Sutton teamed with Cooper Castello to win in straight sets against Hillsboro.
The Hood River Valley girls team entered the week with a 9-0-1 record after an 8-0 win over Putnam on April 21. Amaya Sharp, a sophomore, won at No. 4 singles for Coach Peg Bogard’s squad.
Ava Giordano and Grace Kerr won in straight sets in No. 1 doubles, as did the No. 2 team of Anna Dalbey and Charlotte Fuller.
