HOOD RIVER — Hood River Valley’s (HRV’s) girls track and field team won six individual varsity events and both relays at a three-way Northwest Oregon Conference meet April 16 at Canby High School.
Parkrose joined the host Cougars and HRV at the mid-week meet where the Eagles posted 42 girls and boys personal bests.
Hood River’s girls team led the way by sweeping the relays and winning three individual events on the track, and three in the field. Freshman Diyora Khudoidodova won the high jump at 5 feet, the javelin, and was third in the discus for HRV. Freshman teammate Karina Little won the pole vault and jumped a personal best 15-1 to place second in the long jump.
Sophomore Georgiana Williams won the 400 meters in a personal best 60.09 seconds and was second in the 200. Freshman Gisele Kingsfogel won the 800 in a personal best 2:41.98, and distance teammates Syl Perrin and Savina Davis finished 1-2 in the 3000 (10:43.97 and a PR 10:58.96, respectively).
The Hood River boys were led by senior Matt Trickey, who was second in both the 100 and 200. Teammates Sam Knoll and Victor Coffman finished 1-2 in the boys 3000 (9:52.06 and 9:53.32).
Also of note for HRV were Cohen Wagner’s 10-foot pole vault; Maximiliano Gutierrez’s 18-4 long jump; and Burdock Gerlick’s 139-11 javelin win. The Eagle boys 4x100 relay of Solomon Parson, Jack Shlue, Colin Gerald, and Trickey won in 45.42.
