WHITE SALMON — April has not been kind to the Columbia High School baseball team.
After opening its 2025 Trico League season with a two-game series split against Castle Rock, the Bruins have lost seven straight contests, including six in the month of April. The losses included a non-league home doubleheader vs. Elma, and Trico series vs. King’s Way Christian and Seton Catholic.
Columbia, 3-9 overall and 2-5 in league, has three chances this week to snap its skid. The Bruins were scheduled to play Kalama at home on April 22, travel to Kalama on April 24, and then return home for an April 25 contest vs. Fort Vancouver.
Seton Catholic topped the Bruins 20-2 on April 17 and 13-3 April 15. The latter contest was close until Seton broke open the game with a three-run fourth inning and a four-run fifth. Columbia trailed just 7-6 in the hit category, but the Bruins didn’t help their cause by committing five errors.
Offensively, Kai Brasuell was 2-for-3 with a triple, and teammates Jaden Wang, Seth White, Brody Landgren and Dylan Landgren each added a hit.
The 20-2 Seton win on April 17 was spearheaded by the combined one-hitter thrown by Kolten Gesser and Thomas Clute — with 19 hits of offensive support. Wang had Columbia’s lone hit.
Wang and Brasuell each had two hits in the lost April 10 to King’s Way. Wyatt Stelma and Kellen Olson added a hit apiece.
