Insitu locating in The Dalles

Part of Insitu’s research and development work is now taking place in The Dalles. The Bingen-based tech company, which makes unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for commercial and military use, began leasing a warehouse next to the regional jail early last year.

About 25 to 30 local jobs will be lost when the Dakine warehouse in The Dalles closes, sending that function to a facility in California. The impending closure was first mentioned on social media, and multiple attempts to contact officials at Dakine over several weeks were unsuccessful.

To the editor: Open letter to the owner of the old Sunshine Mill. You painted the long building black with a red roof. Very nice. As a member of this community since 1942 I am always interested (and aware) of how people take care of their property. Thank you, the building looks great (the orange door doesn’t go with the red and black but hopefully it will get painted also). However (isn’t there always a however?)
