Big Sky volleyball playoffs this week

The 2022 Big Sky League volleyball playoffs begin Wednesday at Condon High School, with the winners of those matches qualifying for the Class 1A state playoffs. But before then, they have a chance to win the district title this weekend, as well.

The Big Sky League Class 1A volleyball season is winding down and the frontrunners, South Wasco, Sherman and Dufur, each won games last week to help them build momentum for the upcoming district playoffs Oct. 23 at Echo High School.

In what would have to be considered as their most impressive win of the season, the Dufur High Rangers won 48-44 over their adjacent county rival South Wasco in a Class 1A girls basketball game Saturday at Dufur High School.

Sherman’s Class 1A football win streak over adjacent county rival South Wasco came to an end Saturday in Maupin. The host Redsides (2-0), guided by Coach Mike Waine, used some late-game defensive maneuvers to accomplish their goal, 62-44.
