The Sherman Huskies started 2-7 on the year and then flipped the switch with four consecutive league wins, capped by last Saturday’s 57-30 trouncing of Echo in boys basketball play at Echo.
MORO – The Sherman Huskies officially started the 2019 6-man football season with a lopsided 78-22 victory over Harper-Huntington on Sept. 7, and based off that level of dominance, making the move down from the 8-man division appears to be a forward-thinking move for head coach Mike Somnis.
MORO – The No. 1-ranked Sherman Huskies scored 73 points in two district games last weekend in Madras and could not get their shots to fall. Tuesday was a different story, however. Luke Martin and Caleb Fritts combined for 33 points, the Huskies had four players hit double figures and they nearly matched their two-game district total in a 66-44 state sub-round home romp against North Clackamas Christian Tuesday in Moro.
MADRAS – The Sherman Huskies shot 33 percent from the floor, committed 17 turnovers and had a season-low point total in their 45-35 loss to Horizon Christian Saturday in the boys district title game in Madras.
DUFUR – The No. 2 ranked Sherman Huskies won their 12th game in a row Saturday, beating No. 19 Dufur, 52-32, in Big Sky Conference boys hoops play at the Ranger Dome.
The Sherman Huskies had a scare in Friday’s 54-48 win over Arlington and righted the ship at home Saturday versus Mitchell-Spray by a 74-32 final. Sherman expanded on its 12-10 lead after one quarter with a 19-6 rally to go out in front, 31-16 at halftime.
MORO – Since losing on a buzzer-beating jumper on Dec. 27 at Prairie City, the No. 5-ranked Sherman Huskies have bounced back with two straight lopsided victories over the weekend versus South Wasco County and Dufur in Big Sky Conference boys hoops action.
