The Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association is planning a fundraiser to honor the late Richard Parker, who is recognized by all who knew him for his artistic influence on education, music, and theater in the Columbia River Gorge. Proceeds will go to supporting local music and theater education programs.

CAST Theater and Columbia Center for the Arts present two nights of a staged reading of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” by Tennessee Williams on Friday and Saturday, March 22-23, at 7:30 p.m. in the theater at the arts center, 215 Cascade Ave., Hood River.

CAST opens the current season of plays with Anton Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard” this Friday. Written in 1904, The Cherry Orchard is Chekhov’s last play, considered by many to be his greatest.
