The White Salmon Valley School District applied for a Clean Diesels rebate program Thursday, Oct. 29, through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to potentially replace three buses in the district’s bus fleet. The grant is lottery-based and provides a $25,000 rebate for each newly purchased bus.
You know what irks me? Rebates. Take the vacuum cleaner for example. I bought it because with the $30 rebate, the final price beat all the competition. And I’ll admit I was quite proud of myself when I crammed the receipt and rebate form into my purse. The problem is I completely forgot about it.

State tax collections are flirting with the threshold that would trigger millions of dollars in rebates to corporations under a tax unique to Oregon known as the “kicker.”
