Foundation gives $50,000 to library for collections, projects

The Hood River County Library Foundation donated more than $50,000 to the Hood River County Library District for the upcoming 2017-18 fiscal year, helping to bridge a gap in the collection budget as well as funding new and continuing projects.

Local restaurant goodies, beer, cider and wine, and tunes from Matt Mesa, Mark Reynolds and Jim Drake created the party atmosphere for a successful $31,000 fundraiser for the Hood River Library on Saturday.

A Norway maple at the southeast corner of Hood River Library property, on State Street, is removed due to defects consisting of extensive sun-scald on the main trunk and bark loss on 40 percent of the tree.
