Volleyball Classic returns to Dufur after two years

The Dufur Classic volleyball tournament resumed for the first time since 2019 after being canceled the last two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 12 teams competed in the event Sept. 1-3 at Dufur High School.

The No. 16-ranked South Wasco County High Redsides advanced to the Class 1A state volleyball playoffs a fourth straight year following a 3-0 win over the Glenwood/Klickitat High Eagles (7-3 league, 9-6 overall) in the Big Sky League District Tournanent semifinals Saturday at Echo High School.

The Glenwood/Klickitat High Eagles and the Ione/Arlington High Cardinals both won Big Sky League District quarterfinal playoff road games Wednesday to advance to Saturday’s semifinals at Echo High School.

It’s playoff time in Class 1A volleyball as the six-team Big Sky Conference District Tournament starts Wednesday. The No. 15 ranked South Wasco County High Redsides earned the Big Sky West Division No. 1 seed with a 6-0 league record and a 16-6 overall mark.
