After a great state run for the HRV cross country teams two weekends ago, the varsity squad capped off their season at the Nike Cross National (NXR) event in Boise, Idaho.
After the girls and boys cross country teams brought home second and third place from the Ultimook Race Nike Invitational on Sept. 2, both teams were back in action this weekend as they traveled to Western Oregon University to compete in the Ash Creek XC Festival.
Days before the cross country team headed out to Tillamook for their first 5k of the season, I see the team on my way home from work running down Belmont back towards the high school and all I could think was, wow.
The Hood River Valley alpine ski team had a good showing last weekend at Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort, posting some fast times at an Oregon Interscholastic Ski Racing Association (OISRA) slalom event — the team’s first race of the season that has an impact on standings. The race course was under the Stadium lift at the resort.
HRV’s tradition of fielding one of the most competitive ski teams in the state continued this weekend on the slopes of Mt. Ashland in southern Oregon, where the boys and girls alpine teams combined to take second place overall at the Oregon Interscholastic Ski Racing Association (OISRA) state championships late last week.
